The “X-Men: Apocalypse” casting rumor mill continues to roll but one announcement was confirmed.
Oscar Isaac, a versatile, underrated actor will get his break to introduce himself to a wider audience (the superhero movie fanboys) with the major role of Apocalypse.
Nabbing the title role in the latest mutant movie installment, Isaac is now the main antagonist of what is projected to be Fox’s most epic superhero production.
Apocalypse is known as the first recognized mutant.
He is virtually immortal and he has made himself more powerful than any other mutant in the X-Men Universe.
The announcement was on Variety: “Oscar Isaac has closed a deal to play the titular comicbook villain in 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Just a couple of days ago, there were insinuations that Idris Elba was up for the role of the Apocalypse and Tom Hardy was also mentioned as a candidate but it’s now final: Fox has found its main bad guy in the “Inside Llewelyn Davis” star.
He is also set to appear in “Star Wars VII.” There are still a lot of big announcements being awaited from Fox.
The entire mutant extravaganza is due for recasting.
Recently, candidates for the role of younger versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops were mentioned.
From The Wrap: “Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld are among the teenage leading ladies being eyed to play young Jean Grey in Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse,” while Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet are under consideration for the role of young Cyclops, multiple individuals familiar with the 20th Century Fox project have told The Wrap.” It is possible that the final announcements for these two central characters will follow soon.
The rest of the superhero team’s roster will follow from there.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” will be released on May 27,2016.
