The last time we saw Mulder and Scully in the original “X Files,” they were together and shared a son.
But “X Files” creator Chris Carter gave some juicy spoilers during a Q&A with the Vancouver Sun about their relationship in the 2016 reboot.
Although Mulder and Scully will still be a couple, “When we come back we will find that [their] relationship is not where we left it,” Carter teased, according to TVLine .
What could this mean? Are Mulder and Scully separated? Are they going through a rocky phase in their relationship? We may not know until the “X Files” reboot premiere date , which falls on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 10 p.m.
Does this mean we’ll never see an elusive love scene between Mulder and Scully? “It was part of the mystery of The X-Files,” Carter said when asked why the pair’s relationship was never intimately shown on screen (despite the fact that they have a son together).
“That relationship was kind of mysterious.
Did they get together? Didn’t they get together? If they’ve got a child together, when did they get together? These are questions that we will deal with and answer in good time.” Until then, check out David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson – who play Mulder and Scully, respectively – sharing a kiss onstage at the Cutting Room in New York City, where Duchovny was performing songs from his debut album, “Hell or Highwater.” These two have fought off off-screen dating rumors for years.
Duchovny divorced from his wife Tea Leoni last year and Gillian is single.
Will 2016 the year Duchovny and Anderson take their onscreen relationship to heart?
