One of the most action-packed zombie films of 2013 will get a sequel.

Paramount Pictures confirmed that ‘World War Z 2’release date will be on June 9 2017.

What can fans expect in the sequel?

First up, Brad Pitt will be reprising his role as Gerry Lane, the man who prevented the zombie apocalypse.

According to Collider , even though the film received mixed reviews, the film still managed to garner $540 million worldwide which is the biggest of Pitt’s career in terms of opening weekend.

Director Juan Antonia Bayona is spearheading the “World War Z 2” and he will make the most out of Steven Knight’s script.

With regards to the film’s plot details, no information has been disclosed yet.

Haleigh Foutch of Collider noted that the film was not that bad, but it was also not that good.

Here’s her suggestion on how “World War Z 2” could improve further.

“Hopefully, ‘World War Z 2’ will learn from the previous film’s mistakes and take a cue from the source material, which was rich with fascinating, diverse, and cleverly constructed vignettes about survival in the zombie apocalypse.

The idea of a ‘clean slate’ definitely gives me hope, but I’m most excited by the collaboration between Bayona and Knight who both have fantastic resumes mature, engrossing films,” Foutch said.

Here’s the synopsis of the first “World War Z” film courtesy of Venture Cinema .

“When former U.N.

investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family get stuck in urban gridlock, he senses that it’s no ordinary traffic jam.

His suspicions are confirmed when, suddenly, the city erupts into chaos.

A lethal virus, spread through a single bite, is turning healthy people into something vicious, unthinking and feral.

As the pandemic threatens to consume humanity, Gerry leads a worldwide search to find the source of the infection and, with luck, a way to halt its spread.”
