“Left 4 Dead 3” release date has been the subject of several rumors circling around the internet recently.
Here are all the facts currently known.
It should be noted that this falls under the “extremely speculative” vein of stories, as most of these reports are either reading into minor details that could mean several things, or not from reputable sources.
The first “Left 4 Dead” game was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which has split from Valve since the 2009 release, and is currently working on Evolve for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The second came out a year later, and it has been almost 5 years since then.
Predicably fans want to know what is happening with the franchise.
Counter Strike co-creator Minh Le who previously worked with “Left 4 Dead” developer Valve Corporations started the rumor mill when he said , “It wouldn’t be any news if I said yes, I saw it.
It looks great.” In the same interview he said, “There’s like a laser sight on my head right now.
I don’t know if I can talk about that, to be honest.
I think it’s kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on.
So if I were to say I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news.
But I guess I could say that I did see something that looked like kind of like in the Half-Life universe.
It wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said ‘Yeah, they’re working on it.’ So I mean, to go out on a limb, I would say yeah, I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.
Somebody’s knocking on my door right now [laughs].
It seems like old news.
I think everyone kind of knows that it’s being worked on.” “So I was really excited when I saw that.
I was like ‘Wow, this looks great.’ I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead.
It was just one of those games that really changed the industry because I think at the time there weren’t many good co-op games, so it was like, ‘Yeah, this is a great co-op game’,” he shared.
Falisek from Valve even teased: “I really like working on this series, it is one of my favorite.
It creates so much fun with the world and the characters.
I love horror and I love Zombie.” Could he be talking about L4D 3? Another evidence that set off speculations was a YouTube video posted by Valve, where illustrator Andrea Wicklund accidentally revealed some “Left 4 Dead 3” files as she went through her computer.
There have been leaked screenshots of the game that have been re-made using Valve’s new Source 2.0 game engine.
The screenshots have come from a confidential slide show and shows a rebuilt Plantation level from the Left 4 Dead 2 title.
But this could simply mean they are remastering the game, not making a new one.
The release date of “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half Life 3” also depends on the release date of Source Engine 2.
Both these games will be powered by the Source Engine 2 which will have next-gen graphics, better features and more interactivity.
All of that said all the rumors about “Left 4 Dead 3″ are just that, rumors.
The leaked screenshots, youtube video and quote from Minh Le all give hope to the idea that the game is making a comeback.
But the fact that Black Tusk is focusing on Evolve right now, and the Source 2.O engine isn’t ready yet suggest this is just another internet rumor.
According to its official website , Source Filmmaker will be releasing a L4D Content Pack as one of its newest DLC.
The downloadable content will feature all the original props and characters from the game.
Users of the new Left 4 Dead DLC will also have the chance to compose their own soundtrack for the game.
Master Herald Reports , ” Initial reports suggest that Left 4 Dead 3 could be based on the latest Source 2.0 Engine, although, the report remains unconfirmed.
A faction of the fan base believes that Minh Le has come across early renderings and an incomplete version of the game, although, Le has denied having any close encounters with the game.” What do you think about the potential “Left 4 Dead 3” release date?
