JRPGs from the 1990s will be re-introduced to this generation as Square Enix is leaning towards to reviving their most popular titles and bring it to the PlayStation 4.
Square Enix recently announced that they are indeed looking to bring back the classic RPGs of the past and not only that, they plan to bring it to virtual reality (VR) platforms.
“We will revitalize some of our strong IPs in ways that meet the needs of the modern gaming market. For example, we will take an IP developed for earlier generations of game consoles and recreate it for the latest consoles, while also proactively developing versions for play on smart devices,” according to Square Enix via VG24/7 .
“In addition, we will also explore possibilities involving VR (virtual reality) and other new platforms.”
“We want our longtime fans to relish reliving past experiences with a freshness that only the latest in technology can provide, while at the same time have new customers enjoy the IP as though it were brand new.”
With that said, fans over at VG24/7 shared their thoughts on what games should be given a PS4 remake. Aside from the usual FF series installments, “Parasite Eve” and “Vagrant Stories” are two of the more popular games that are mentioned by RPG loving fans.
According to SlyBeast, “Parasite Eve” and/or “Vagrant Story” will be perfect for PS4 remake candidates and Shane Firth couldn’t agree more with his suggestions.
“I would love ‘Parasite Eve’ to get the treatment it deserves, a full blown modern reboot would make me happy after the mess that was 3rd Buffday,” the user wrote.
Jbumi also wants a much improve “Vagrant Story,” he said, “Yes, ‘Vagrant Story,’ PLEASE!!! If ever a game NEEDED a remake (fix the annoying combat & improve its crafting) it’s this one!”
