There are a number of upcoming HTC phones for 2014, including the new Desire EYE and the One M8 EYE which should arrive in most markets by the end of the month. However, it looks like HTC is not done yet with the phone releases, particularly in the midrange lineup.
According to a report by GSM Arena , the Taiwan-based manufacturer has just announced a new midranger.
Dubbed as the Desire 620, the Android-powered smartphone boasts some decent specs. In case you are interested in this handset, the Desire 620 has a 5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 1GB of RAM, a 64-bit capable Snapdragon 410 chipset, and an 8GB built-in storage with a microSD card slot. One of the phone’s unique features is the 5MP primary camera with dual-LED flash, and the 5MP front camera.
Given the phone’s specs, this combination is good. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a cheap smartphone, rumors claim that the HTC Desire 620 will be priced at about $320.
The price is certainly within the midrange category, but with these specs, less people may be interested. HTC has done a good job this year in keeping its smartphone lineup fresh every few months.
After the HTC One M8, the phone maker released midrangers such as the Desire 610, Desire 816, and the One mini 2.
There is also the cheaper One E8, and other Desire handsets to cater to other portions of the market. As a result, HTC has gained its first quartely profit in almost three years.
Will HTC continue this strategy? We’ll find out as the new year comes.
