Toy Story 4 is confirmed to have a release date on 2017! The movie will have a bonus for die-hard fans as John Lasseter, the director of the original film and its part two, will be back to direct its fourth installation.
Although the toys rightful owner, Andy, left on Toy Story 3, the toys are expected to have a “new chapter” in their lives and a new storyline expected on the fourth film.
Sky News revealed that after 22 years from its first release, the fourth movie would be revealed.
“We love these characters so much, they are like family to us,” said Lasseter.
“We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.” With the huge success of the first three films and even garnering a widely positive response, creators and original director that making a follow up is a must.
But that is not what’s pushing them to create a continued storyline but it is just what they would like to do.
“A lot of people in the industry view us doing sequels as being for the business of it, but for us it’s pure passion,” said Lasseter .
“We only make sequels when we have a story that’s as good as or better than the original.
“We don’t just, because of the success of a film, automatically say we’re going to do a sequel and then figure out what we’re going to do.” Tim Allen and Tom Hanks, who carries the voice of main characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear will be back for the sequel but reports of the plot and story of Toy Story 4 is still kept to be a secret.
“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” said Lasseter.
“We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.
Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie.
But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it.
It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie-and I wanted to direct it myself.”
