'Thor 3' 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: Taikia Waititi In Talks To Direct ‘Thor: Ragnarok; No Joke, The Comedy Director May Lighten Up The God Of Thunder

‘Thor 3’ 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: Comedy filmmaker Taika Waititi is in talks to direct “Thor: Ragnarok,” the third installment in Marvel’s “Thor” superhero movie series.

Waititi, who was born in New Zealand, directed the indie comedy “Eagle vs. Shark” and the vampire comedy “What We Do in the Shadows” as well as episodes of the TV series “Flight of the Conchords.” He write the screenplay for for Disney’s upcoming animated movie “Moana.” As an actor, Waititi played Tom Kalmaku in the 2011 film “Green Lantern” that starred Ryan Reynolds.
The original 2011 “Thor” was directed by Kenneth Branagh. Alan Taylor directed “Thor: The Dark World.”
Chris Hemsworth will return as the Thor, the god of thunder. Tom Hiddleston is back to play Lok. Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role as  Lady Sif. No word yet on whether Natalie Portman will be back as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins will return as Odin, or if Idris Elba will put on Heimdall’s costume.
Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle wrote the screenplay for “Thor: Ragnarok.” Yost was a co-writer on “Thor: The Dark World.
Ragnarok will have a link to Captain America Civil War. Recent reports say Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which features Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), will introduce new characters like Black Panther into the Marvel Universe. The movie will also lay groundwork for upcoming sequels like “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Captain America: Civil War.”
As far as Thor 3 Ragnarok, Marvel is keeping mum. We know Ragnarok will have a link to Captain America Civil War. But it is hard to predict who Thor will face off against..
Ragnarok is a cyborg super-villain clone of Thor that was created by Iron Man himself Tony Stark along with Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man) when they thought Thor died in the Asgardian/Ragnarok Apocalypse. 
“Thor: Ragnarok” is set to hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
