Thanksgiving turned into a nightmarish day for one young actor this year.
27-year-old Corey Sligh, an actor on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” and “Days of Our Lives” was delivering a Thanksgiving meal to a friend at a Rite Aid in West Hollywood, CA on Thursday when he was struck by a car in the parking lot and then beaten.
According to a report by CBS Los Angeles , Sligh and his actress girlfriend Alisa Berhorst had arrived to the Rite Aid location when they spotted two men in a car driving recklessly and doing donuts in the parking lot.
“They almost hit people in the parking lot.
They were hitting curbs, and Corey said, ‘Please slow down or we’re gonna call the cops, just go home,” Berhorst explained to KCAL9 .
The two men then reportedly hit Sligh with the car.
They proceeded to climb out of the vehicle and beat Sligh.
“The guy walked up on him like ‘I’m in the mood to kill somebody and this is who it’s going to be because he told me to be careful and slow down and go away,” said Berhorst.
The “Young and the Restless” actor was eventually taken to Cedars-Sinai where he underwent surgery and was hospitalized for injuries including a broken arm.
“The whole imagery of everything that happened last night is still very fresh and scary,” admitted Berhorst.
The suspects were reportedly arrested.
“I’m thankful he’s okay.
I’m thankful that we didn’t get killed,” added the actress.
Sligh took to Facebook to thank friends, family, and fans for the outpouring of support he has received since the incident.
“I just want to THANK EVERYONE that has showed support!” wrote Sligh.
“Don’t know if it’s the meds, the image of the car hitting me, or the surgeries but you guys made me teary eyed this am! When you deal with so much hate and pain you want to break down but damn I have the best friends in the world! If anyone who has showed me support ever needs anything my crippled ass will come running! (Well minus a pretty bad limp lol).”
