Naughty Dog seemed to hit a home run following the success of “The Last Of Us” series, which garnered a huge positive feedback from gamers a few years back.
Now, fans are talking about a “The Last Of Us 2” release date announcement after a few people involved with the game hinted the possibility of the apocalyptic title.
According to a recent report by IGN , community strategist Eric Monacelli, writer Josh Scherr and lead animator Eric Baldwin went on a live stream announcement and run through for the Nathan Drake collection game, wherein they might have slipped a hint regarding the possibility of a “The Last Of Us 2” release date announcement.
In the stream, Scherr said the words “the first ‘The Last Of Us,'” which got a few heads turned, hinting a possible sequel.
“All the facial animation in the ‘Uncharted’ series was led up by Eric, here,” he claimed, giving an idea for some fans the possibility of a second installation of the game. “And [on] the first ‘The Last of Us.’ Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?”
Also, earlier this year, voice actor for the game Nolan North may also have revealed the possibility of a release date announcement confirming how the studios are working on a sequel, Eurogamer reported.
“Not yet, I know they’re doing ‘The Last of Us 2,'” North said.
Troy Baker, who voices Joel in the game, on the other hand, denied all the rumors about a “The Last Of Us 2” release date after appearing in a panel during the Indy PopCon.
In the report, the voice actor claimed how he has no idea or any news about the game follow-up.
“I know nothing,” Baker explained. “I don’t know if we’re gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told.”
