‘Produce 101’ Season 2: Mnet Responds To Discrimination Allegation

Mnet’s “Produce 101” Season 2 hasn’t even aired its first episode, yet controversies already arise. Just right after Samuel Kim’s bullying scandal cooled off, Mnet has to face another controversy — this time the alleged mistreatment of its contestants. “Produce 101” is a survival show in which 101 contestants are competing against each other for one in a lifetime chance to debut in a new boy group. In the first installment, the 101 girls were divided into several training groups, and this season, “Produce 101” definitely applies the same method, only this time, the grouping method seems to produce a new controversy . According to Soompi , there were reports saying that “Produce 101” Season 2 contestants are being treated unjustly since the trainees in Group A seem to be receiving a lot of privileges than the lower groups. “Produce 101” fans recently worried about the rumor that one of the contestants, Samuel Kim, was allegedly bullied by his classmates. The photos spread on the internet showed that Samuel’s friends at school often made fun of him since he appeared on “Produce 101.” “Produce 101” contestant bullying rumor started when two photos of Samuel Kim allegedly being bullied, leaked online. There were photos and videos showing Samuel carrying textbooks on the stairs while a friend punched him so he had to pick his books up alone. Since his appearance on “Produce 101,” Samuel Kim has always been the subject of talking and mostly jokes. K-Much Metamorphosed Into Ba.A

K-Much is going through a metamorphosis! Reportedly, it recently changed its name to Be.A, which stands for Be Artist. In Feb. 2017, it was accordingly announced that K-Much will change their name. The group have been asking fans to choose from one of the three nominees: Be.A (Be Artist/Be.A/ Become an artist), Champ (Become the Idol Champion) and B.O.T (Boy on top). And apparently, in Feb. 28 they broadcasted that now K-Much will be called by their new name Be.A. Then, in March 2, Soompi  reported, that the group also announced the addition of new member, BomB. Park Woo-young with the stage name BomB, made his first TV appearance on Mnet’s survival program “Boys24.” Be.A further hinted that they will be making comeback this year. The details accordingly will be revealed in Mar. 2017. K-Much, according to Wikipedia , is a boy band formed under Chrome Entertainment in 2014. They debuted in 7 Jan. 2014 with the release of their first mini album “Beyond the Ocean.” The group now consists of five members: Kiu, G.Low, BornUs, Ato and BomB. Although the group’s English name had always been K-Much, allegedly their original Korean name was Gamulchi, which is translated as snakehead.

The new MNET singing show, “Golden Tambourine”, has released a music video for the song “Rise And Fall” with its permanent cat members Yoon Se Yoon, Shim Hyung Tak, Jo Kwon, and Choi Yoo Jung. Allkpop  has reported that the ‘T4 members’ composed of comedian Yoon Se Yoon, former 2AM member Jo Kwon, former IOI member Choi Yoo Jung and actor Shim Hyung Tak, has released a fu music video for their song “Rise And Fall”. Mnet’s “Golden Tambourine” is a variety singing competition show. It is broadcasted on Mnet every Thursday, 9:40 PM, Korean time. The cast members compete against their friends by using creative stage performances and fun energy from the performers. The song is composed of an upbeat electronic and house melody. IOI’s Choi Yoo Jung revealed why she cried at the initial filming of Mnet’s new music variety show, “Golden Tambourine!” Choi Yoo Jung attended a press conference along with other ‘Golden Tambourine’ MCs on December 12. Choi Yoo Jung shared interesting stories from shooting the first episode. Choi Yoo Jung told the press, “It was my first time working as an MC together with big names in the entertainment industry. I was nervous, and I did not know what to expect. But after that, I had so much fun with sunbaes. Now my only concern is about how to have more fun so the show will be fun!” The 17-year-old international age, not traditional Korean age-also shared a story on how she was moved by other MCs’ supports and how helpful they were.
