Lee Min Ho Admits He Is Sadder About Hitting 30 Than Reporting For Mandatory Enlistment

With just a few weeks left before he enlists for mandatory service, Lee Min Ho is wrapping up his commitments and is doing his best to prepare for his upcoming two years of service to his country. The actor admitted however, that he is sad about the fact that he will leave the industry temporarily but is happy that he was able to do a lot of projects thus far. “I thought I would be all cool, all indifferent,”  Lee Min Ho said in a Hello Kpop interview. Instead, he felt sad. “I think it is more about my passing 20s rather than about enlistment itself. I feel sad about becoming 30s and getting old.” The “Legend of the Blue Sea” actor, however said that he had no regrets that he is only entering the military now that he is about to hit 30 rather than when he was younger. With the announcement of Lee Min Ho’s military enlistment starting May 12, fans are wondering what will happen to the rumored plans for a “Legend of the Blue Sea” sequel. Prior to the announcement made by MYM Entertainment about the actor’s enlistment, speculations have been growing that SBS is considering a sequel to the successful fantasy drama. According to a report by Korea Portal , the rumored sequel will revolve around Lee Min Ho’s character Joon Jae who will raise his children on his own after Jun Ji Hyun’s character Sim Chung passes away. The report hinted that the lead female role will be taken over by Lee Min Ho’s real life girlfriend Suzy Bae. Lee Min Ho has finally released his enlistment date for the military after months of waiting. His agency MYM Entertainment, confirmed that the Legend of the Blue Sea actor will be enlisting for mandatory service on May 12. “The enlistment date for Lee Min Ho was confirmed today,” Lee Min Ho’s agency, MYM Entertainement said. “It is true that he will be starting his military service on May 12 in Gangnam as a social service worker.” According to Koreboo , unlike other enlisted celebrities, he will not be reporting for military training right away  because of injuries he sustained from a car accident in 2006.  It can be recalled that Lee Min Ho , along with his good friend and fellow actor Jung Il Woo figured in a serious car accident in 2006 in which the Legend of the Blue Sea star had to undergo surgery to insert a metal rod inserted into his leg. No More Delays In Enlistments As Government Orders Military Manpower Administration To Take Over All Celebrity Enlistments

All celebrity enlistments will now be directly handled by the Military Manpower Administration (MMA), the office has announced. This means that all celebrities and athletes will now be processed under the MMA. According to a report by Soompi , entertainment agencies were informed by the MMA of this new policy which asked for their cooperation. The MMA sought the complete list of in house artists in accordance with the amended Military Service Act. Based on the amendment, the MMA’s scope has been expanded to include control on celebrities and athletes who enlist with the military. This means that the Military Manpower Administraton is now in charge of those in Grade 4 or higher. Apart from the management of trainees, the office will now also be in charge of the overall process of the enlistment of celebrities. According to a report by All Kpop , the move was intended to ensure that artists will enlist on time and not delay their mandatory service because of work commitments. “Celebrity enlistment is an interest to the whole nation. UNICEF’s Korean committee announced that PROMIZ-Lee Min Ho’s donation platform-has contributed 25 million won (~21,700 USD) for the event that is coming up on the 22nd of March.
