IU Album News: 'Through The Night' Achieves All-Kill

IU’s comeback album is on track to become a top seller when it comes out next month as its pre-release track “Through the Night” achieved an all-kill in all music charts in Korea. It seems that the singer/actress’ 1 ½ year hiatus from music made her fans all the more excited to hear her beautiful voice again. According to a report by Soompi , IU’s ‘Through The Night” reached #1 status in eight real-time charts — Melon, Bugs, Genie, Soribada, Naver, Mnet, olleh, and Monkey3. It went straight to #1 in Melon within an hour of its release. It can be recalled that Girl’s Generation Taeyeon’s “Fine” achieved all-kill within four hours when it came out last month. IU’s Through the Night is a folk ballad song that depicts how a person would want to share how she feels about the person she loves in the quiet of the night. TWICE has maintained its lead in the list of singers in the Korean Business Research Institute’s brand reputation survey. The K-pop girl group beat out Girl’s Generation’s Taeyeon and male K-pop idols BTS for the top spot this month. According to Soompi , the Korean Business Research Institute released the results of its survey gathered from February 23 to March 24 which took into consideration factors like brand participation, media, communication, and community.  Based on the survey, TWICE ranked first with a total brand reputation index of 12,309,374. Girl’s Generation Taeyeon who recently released her solo album and achieved All-Kill status in four hours after the release of her song “Fine,” placed second with a total index of 10,128,627. BTS or the Bangtan Boys, who are currently in the United States for the Newark and Anahaim legs of their Wings Tour, placed third in the list with a 9,585,572 score. Aside from TWICE, K-pop groups who also ruled the survey included Lovelyz, BTOB, EXO, GFRIEND, BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, SEVENTEEN, GOT7, BIG BANG, VIXX, MAMAMOO, AOA, Bolbbalgan4, INFINITE and Block B. It seems that Sandara Park may be taking her “One Step” director Juhn  Jai Hong’s advice to heart and give acting a shot since the former 2NE1 member has reportedly lined up her next acting project. Sandara Park has been confirmed in the final cast of the “Cheese in the Trap” movie adaptation. According to a report by Soompi , Mountain Movement Story, the producers of the movie adaptation, confirmed that Sandara Park will be playing the role of Jang Bo Ra and while actor Kim Hyun Jin will be taking on the part of Kwon Eun Taek. “We were very surprised by how well Sandara Park was able to pull of the blunt, refreshingly straightforward character of Jang Bora and decided she was very well-qualified for the role,” representatives from the production said. Just recently, Mamamoo was in for some trouble after they did a blackface during their recent concert in Seoul. What happened during the concert was that Mamamoo did a parody performance for Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk”. In their performance, Mamamoo wore the same outfit as the original singer as well as painted their faces black to refer to the real skin color of the singer of the song. Because of it, the performance was heavily criticized as pure racist. Because of it, Mamamoo immediately turned to Facebook the next day apologizing for their insensitive actions and decisions.
