EA official Matthew Everett explained during a recent interview why Star Wars Battlefront will not be available for earlier-generation consoles like the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.
“We could not achieve what we want to visually and with the gameplay functionality without the power of this generation’s consoles or a modern day PC,” he posted on Reddit . Star Wars Battlefront developer Niklas Fegraeus revealed that his company has “great plans” for the upcoming E3 2015 conference in June, hinting at the release of a new gameplay trailer. “We want to pay homage to this beloved franchise, while making our own stamp for a new generation,” he said of the game series in general. “We want to then create a new direction where we add features and capabilities you’ve never seen before,” he later added. Star Wars Battlefront gameplay maps include “a unique and ideal location which in multiple areas looked like another planet,” developers wrote in a recent blog post .
Sullust, the new location, is said to contain cold, dark and unstable terrain.
The game will not include space battles in its gameplay, but will feature air combat, GameSpot reports.
