‘Snowpiercer’ director is shooting new movie ‘Okja’ as Netflix original production

‘Snowpiercer’ director and scriptwriter Bong Joon-Ho return to Hollywood to write and direct the new movie “Okja” starring Tilda Swinton, Ahn Seo-hyun, Jake Gyllenhaal. The production team has not revealed some aspects of the movie which is still in production. The movie is a co-production of Brad Pitt’s company Plan B Entertainment and Netflix as the original movie for Netflix as reported by Seoul Daily News . Bong is the scriptwriter and director of the movie which is budgeted at $50 million.
“Okja” tells the story of a little girl who live deep in Korean countryside named Mija who befriend a giant animal which she called Okja. One day Okja suddenly disappear and she started to run a search for Okja. Mija’s quest to find Okja will bring her to New York City, where she encounters big corporation and intriques that involves many corresponding parties. According to Entertainment Weekly , Okja is a mysterious animal which according to Bong is the one nobody ever know before. Although some people consider Okja as a monster, but he is not. “It’s a very shy and introverted animal,” Bong explained. “It’s a unique animal that we’ve not seen before.” This movie will be the second time for the 47-year old movie director to direct a Hollywood movie after his 2013 movie “Snowpiercer” starring Captain America’s Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton along with Korean actor Song Kang-Ho and Go Ah-Sung. This time he reunited with Swinton in the movie. Bong is known for his style to change the mood in the movie out of the blue. His style makes the audience to feel like riding the roller coaster to watch his movie. This can be seen in “Snowpiercer” and also his 2009 “Mother” along with the fantasy movie “The Host” in 2006.
