One of the most mysterious prospects in the 2015 NBA Draft, Kristaps Porzingis is on the radar of NBA analyst Chad Ford and is placed among the ranks of Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay, and D’Angelo Russell.
The analyst believes that the Orlando Magic is the ideal landing spot for the Latvian big man and is the perfect complimentary player with Nicola Vucevic.
Although little is known about Porzingis, Chad Ford believes that his game will transcend to the NBA.
Here is Ford’s analysis of his game.
(via Orlando Magic Daily ) “I’ve said all year that I believe Porzingis is actually in the same tier with Towns, Okafor, Russell and Mudiay.
He’s an elite talent who would likely be in much stronger contention for the No.
1 pick if he were playing at Kentucky or Duke instead of in Spain.
It’s rare to find a 7-footer who can shoot the 3, protect the rim and see the game the way he does.
The only real knock on him is that he’s really skinny.
But I think he’s a great fit in Orlando next to Nikola Vucevic in the middle and Aaron Gordon at small forward,” he said.
“The Magic have drafted well the past few years.
Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo and Gordon all have a chance to be really good.
But Porzingis has star potential and if they’re willing to be patient for one season while he adjusts to the league, they could have a very special team going forward – high character, athletic, team-first.
After Towns, Porzingis is the next guy on my board for Orlando over Okafor, Russell or Mudiay,” he added.
However, Magic fans are having second thoughts on the big man as the last international prospect they drafted way back 2005, Fran Vazquez, did not pan out well.
Here’s the scouting report for Porzingis courtesy of Draft Express.
Kristaps Porzingis is currently ranked as the 8 th best prospect in NBA Draft Express 2015 mock draft and is poised to be picked by the Detroit Pistons.
While the Orlando Magic, having the 5 th worst record, is tentatively ranked as the fifth team to pick in the draft and is projected to draft Justise Winslow.
