Sherlock Season 4 Release Date Is Exactly On Schedule, But Fans Blame New Dr. Strange Benedict Cumberbatch For Delays

Sherlock season 4 release date delays were confirmed and fans are blaming Benedict Cumberbatch, whose acting schedule has been hectic, for it.But Sherlock routinely runs new seasons every two years.  Season 1 premiered in July 2010 while seasons 2 and 3 premiered on January 1 2012 and 2014.

The Epoch Times reported the Sherlock season 4 release date will be in January of 2016.  Sherlock co-creator Mark Gratis updated fans by posting “Series Four! At last!” on the site’s website.

“It’s always special to return to Sherlock but this time it’s even more special as we’re doing…a Special! Not only THAT, we’ll then be shooting three more episodes which will take Sherlock and John Watson into deeper and darker water than ever before…The whole ‘Sherlock’ team are terrifically excited to return for four new adventures.

The Game is on – again!” According to Martin Freeman the Sherlock season 4 will have three episodes and a one-off Christmas episode which will probably air in 2015.Steven Moffat recently told the media “A special, plus a new series of three episodes – it’s a record-breaking run! Of course, it’s far too early to say what’s coming, but we’re reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you’d expect ….” Audiences will see Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes, in seven or eight movies before the Sherlock Season 4 premiere.

Cumberbatch recently wrapped work on “The Imitation Game,” “Penguins of Madagascar,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies,” “Black Mass,” “Magik,” “The Yellow Birds,” “Jungle Book: Origins” and “Flying Horse.” Fans want new episodes to air during early 2015.

Fans are unhappy that the Sherlock season 4 will have a late air date.  “MarkToy” on IMDB said “I love Cumberbatch but that dude is seriously the reason why we won’t be getting new episodes anytime soon”.

A Facebook told the Sherlock Facebook page “I’m tired of waiting! 2 years for a new season? Cumberbatch is not busy at the moment but he refuses to film new episodes? That’s it, I’m done with this show”.

Tom Hiddleston, who stars in “Thor,” is rumored to be cast as Sherlock’s older brother, Sherrinford.

The actor is actually younger than Benedict Cumberbatch.

The older brother did not feature in the sleuthing stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but fans are sure that he will appear in the series.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a Emmy-winning actor who starred in The Hobbit series, “Star Trek Into Darkness,” and BBC’s “Sherlock.” There are rumors that Marve wants him to play Stephen Strange in their upcoming Phase 3 film “Doctor Strange,” according to Deadline.
