Lovelyz member Seo Jisoo will not debut with the rest of the group due to mental shock in reaction to malicious rumors.
Woollim Entertainment’s new girl group Lovelyz held a showcase in Seoul on November 11, where Seo Jisoo did not appear.
Immediately prior to debut, Seo Jisoo was embroiled in an Internet rumor scandal revolving around her sexual orientation and personality.
Woollim Entertainment is taking action against the perpetrators of the rumors, but has not announced when Seo Jisoo will join the other seven members of Lovelyz.
“Her [Seo Jisoo] state of mental shock is severe.
She cannot even drink a single sip of water,” Woollim Entertainment said.
“She will rest until she mentally recovers.” The rumors began gaining attention immediately prior to Lovelyz debut, and Woollim Entertainment announced previously that it will take legal actions against anybody who is spreading false rumors.
Woollim Entertainment has also implored the perpetrator to come forward to the police if what they are saying is true so that Woollim could take legal responsibility for what harm its employee has potentially done.
In a post on social media, Woollim Entertainment discussed what actions it was taken, and how serious the situation is.
“This is about the life of a girl,” the post said.
“If Seo Jisoo did even one thing wrong, we will take all legal responsibility.” Lovelyz is Woollim Entertainment’s first girl group.
There are eight members of Lovelyz, including Seo Jisoo- leader Baby Soul, Lee Mi Joo, JIN, Ryu Soojung, Yoo Ji Ae, KEI, and Jung Yein.
Several of the members have debuted previously as Woollim solo artists, or have featured in INFINITE songs.
INFINITE is the top idol group at Woollim Entertainment and Woollim’s female group has been long awaited due to INFINITE’s success.
Lovelyz released a pre-debut song and music video “Last Night Goodbye” before holding a Seoul showcase.
The group will release its first EP “Girls’ Invasion” on November 17.
