When Saturday Night Live Season 40 premiered on September 27, it did not disappoint.
First, Chris Pratt hosted and turned out be actually funny, although he very briefly suffered some dead air and a few missed lines.
The cast, however, helped establish the harmony, particularly show runner Lorne Michaels.
He did a monologue via a musical intro.
He also joked about his changing body saying, “I’ve gone from skinny to fat back to skinny back to fat”.
Pratt had a short banter with his wife, actress Anna Faris, and also did a great and hilarious spoof of “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
The Saturday Night Live news also featured the debut of a few characters. In a report by Slate.com , Michael Che and Pete Davidson debuted on SNL 40.
Che showed off his talents, although he initially had to find his rhythm with Colin Jost.
Che was the anchor on Weekend Update with Davidson.
Che’s winking was one of the funniest parts of the sketch.
Davidson, the youngest member in the cast, is naturally charming and was warmly welcomed by the audience.
He fills in the void that Sudeikis and Hader left after leaving the show.
Related Saturday Night Live news by the Toronto Sun wrote about what was probably the best sketch for the night when SNL joked about Marvel’s nonstop release of summer blockbuster films, knowing that fans will still watch regardless of the characters.
Aside from Pratt’s spoof of “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel’s Pam and Creatures of the Cosmos were also featured.
An ordinary-looking woman named Pam with a cardigan was labeled, “It doesn’t matter, I’ll make $3,000,000.” The show also featured a new sketch where classic toys came to life after Danny, played by Kyle Mooney, made a birthday wish, with Chris Pratt dressed as He-Man, Ariane Grande dressed as She-Ra and Taran Killam appeared as Lion-O.
What made this Saturday Night Live news extra funny was when the trio started to indulge in activities of daily life, such as eating cake, patting their crotches and dipping in a hot tub with Danny’s mom.
