After sustaining a career-threatening injury that got his tour cancelled, Sam Smith’s plans with his new album is also been halted, as the singer is focused on recovering after having a surgery on his vocal chords.
In a report by List UK , the plans of Smith’s sophomore release have been paused for the meantime following his health scare.
A source reportedly revealed that the singer intends to have a break and would try to continue with his commitments following a huge success at the Grammy’s.
“Sam hopes to be back in eight weeks to finish his promotional commitments for his debut album,” the source stated.
“After that the doctors have told him to give his vocal cords some time out before coming back with his second album.” “The prognosis for surgery is good but Sam has been told to see this as a huge warning.” Although doctors warned the “Stay With Me” singer about his condition, the 22-year-old is still in full swing as he is committed to give back to his fans by doing what he does best.
“He has not stopped working and performing since his album was released a year ago and he is risking serious damage to his voice,” the source continued.
“He has been a victim of his own success.” “We have never stopped writing but haven’t had time to go in the studio to put anything down.” Sam Smith officially announced his condition and the cancellation of his tour in April in his Instagram page and expressed his sadness regarding the issue.
“I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour,” Smith said.
“I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords.
The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue.
I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am.
This kills me.”
