According to a report by Breathecast , the succeeding installments after the third franchise disappointed some of the fans and players due to its reduced horror factor, and the developers are well aware of it.
In an interview of Video Gamer with game producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi regarding the updates and the developments of the remake. He mentioned that he doesn’t “think there’s much meaning in simply saying things like ‘Yes, I’m confident we can [recapture the feeling of the original].” He also said that the team is currently “working hard on the game at the moment” and strongly believes that they “can recapture the spirit of the first game,” Breathecast reported.
“As you mentioned, the first game’s remake is held up as proof that a remaster can recapture the original game,” Hirabayashi emphasized. “I was able to learn from more experienced colleagues and see with my own eyes how they translated their efforts into such a masterpiece that built on an already well-received game. It was an incredibly valuable experience for me,” he continued.
In a separate report by Christian Times , it mentioned that Capcom will be focusing the remake based on the first three installments which were highly loved by fans, and plans to make these three former prequels an inspiration to the upcoming remake.
The report even added that Hirabayashi confirmed they will be making sure the remake will be acquiring the same wavelength of horror from the original “Resident Evil.” He also confirmed production of the upcoming sequel has already begun.
Release date and launching of the said game is still unconfirmed by producers. It is expected that the information will be divulged as time progresses.
With all these news, fans are probably more than excited to know that the next-in-line sequel will be more of what the have hoped for after their experience from the last two installments.
