Amidst the continued success of “Grand Theft Auto V” across all platforms, Rockstar has reportedly thinking about the next game they have in store for their fans.
In a recent blog post by Rockstar Games , while they talked about the latest “Grand Theft Auto Online Heist,” the company also touched the topic of a possible “Red Dead Redemption 2” release date in the future.
Rockstar claimed that they were actually shocked to see how fans reacted to the “Red Dead” game even after almost half a decade past since it was released.
The statement came in the discussion forum where they answered a question from a fan regarding the said game.
“It’s wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the Red Dead series, and nearly 5 years after ‘Red Dead Redemption’s’ release,” they said.
“As we’ve mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as ‘Red Dead Redemption,’ ‘Bully’ and ‘L.A.
Noire,’ we don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually.
We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing.” In another report by Game Spot , Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that working on a game one by one is what they’ve been looking at and assures fans of a future “Red Dead Redemption 2” release after calling the series as a “permanent franchise.” “The risk of just [releasing more games] is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn’t really what consumers want.
Consumers want better, not more,” Zelnick said.
“So our selective approach, which we’ve taken since ’07 I think has paid off.
Now, we have gotten more by taking that approach; we’ve launched one new successful franchise every year and I would like to keep doing that particularly because I talk about permanent franchises, but not everything is going to be a permanent franchise.
Some of our great franchises eventually will lose their luster and some will hopefully be permanent.” According to some rumors and speculations, release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” could be announced anytime this year.
