People who are part of the 1990s generation are overjoyed because of the confirmation that their childhood superheroes, Mighty Morphine Power Rangers will hit the big screen in today’s era.
Lionsgate CEO, Jon Feltherimer and Power Rangers co-creator, Haim Saban officially announced last May that their companies are working together to bring the 1990’s favourite superheroes to theatre.
Saban stated, “Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level.
They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from ‘The Hunger Games’ to ‘Twilight’ and ‘Divergent.’ In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy of its own.” “The Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years and today they are more powerful than ever.” Said Feltheimer.
Power Rangers is an American children-oriented action/fantasy TV series that revolves around the lives of five ordinary teenagers who are given the power and responsibility to save the Earth from evil aliens who want to conquer it.
By saying their respective “color” these ordinary teenagers turn themselves in to individuals with incredible fighting abilities before they face their enemies.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was shown in 1993 and became a phenomenon to that era.
Upon the said confirmation, fans are now after the actors who will portray the five Rangers and their wise leader, Zordon.
MTV News said that Chloe Grace Moretz confirmed that she will be Kimberly Hart also known as the Pink Ranger while ComicBookMovie.com posted that Liam Neeson will have the part of Zordon.
Other actors who are rumored to be part of the movie include Taylor Lautner, Liam Hemsworth, Jack Gleeson, Michael B.
Jordan, Jamie Chung and Roshon Feegan.
It is also speculated that Meryll Streep will play as the villain Rita Repulsa.
No confirmation has been made yet regarding the final cast of the movie.
But, Jason David Frank, who originally played as the Green Ranger confirmed to ComicBook.com that he will have a cameo role in the forthcoming Power Rangers movie.
“I probably will be involved.
They talked to me about it.
I don’t know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie.” On the other hand, SchomoesKnow website published that Max Landis, writer of “Chronicles” will also write the script of Power Rangers and that he already submitted a draft to producers Jim Miller, Alison Sheamur and Haim Saban.
