Though the series will likely not premiere until 2016, production on “Penny Dreadful” season three is now underway.
Luckily for “dreadful” fans, producer Christopher King is always updating his twitter with lovely tidbits from set.
Yesterday, producer Christopher King updated his personal Twitter with a photo that possibly contains “Penny Dreadful” season three spoilers. Specifically, the photo features a an Egyptian set-piece, suggesting that maybe fans will soon be getting a glimpse of Egyptian horror elements.
“Day one with our new director Paco Cabezas. Filming a mysterious new scene for ‘Penny Dreadful,” tweeted King.
The photo pictures a sarcophagus as well as a drawer that is engraved with the title “Cairo Museum.” While it’s uncertain whether the picture is actually from a place in Egypt or someone’s collection, it is definitely likely to yield something interesting for any one of the main characters of the series.
Given that Sir Malcolm (played by Timothy Dalton) has been to Africa many times before, it seems that the photo most likely relates to him.
In fact, earlier this year in an interview with EW , creator John Logan did state that the characters would be out in the world.
“Next season, some of them are alone, and they don’t have their friends to turn to – they don’t have that support. And how they’re going to function out there in the world without each other is interesting,” said Logan.
As such, it’s possible the photo is a picture of a scene involving what happens to Sir Malcolm on his trip.
Whatever the case may be, the wait for “Penny Dreadful” season three will likely be a long one, as the series traditionally premieres in the spring. Despite the wait, fans can at least be assured that “Penny Dreadful” season three was confirmed earlier this year, and according to King’s twitter, is now deep within production.
If you’re looking to catch up on “Penny Dreadful,” both seasons are now streaming on Showtime Anytime.
