“Penny Dreadful” season two is only a few weeks away and Showtime continues to offer fans glimpses of what they can possibly expect in the upcoming episodes.
This latest teaser though, is specifically for the occult fans.
Yesterday Showtime began streaming a new “Penny Dreadful” season two teaser video documenting a brief history of the occult.
And while some of the animations cannot be featured in the series due to occurring after the time period of “Penny Dreadful,” others could potentially come into use.
Fans can watch the new teaser below.
Although nothing can be said yet for the other elements, actress Eva Green already promised in her own featurette that witches would play a part in the new season.
“The devil is still haunting her.
He’s sent his servants and his servants are witches.
And they’re actually more terrifying than the devil himself,” explains Green.
As to be expected, the witches mentioned in this latest teaser happen to be the alleged witches of the Salem Witch Trials.
An additional mention is Henry VIII’s law making witchcraft punishable by death, due to religious tension.
Perhaps this little tidbit makes for some interesting conflict, since by the time witches come for Vanessa Ives, they are considered criminals by law.
Another element in the new teaser that is likely to be explored further in “Penny Dreadful” is spiritualism.
Since there was already a terrifying séance in season one, there will likely be plenty more as Vanessa tries to keep a grip while be haunted by the devil.
“Penny Dreadful” is set to return on May 3.
