Everyone is moving on from “Grey’s Anatomy,” even Patrick Dempsey and Shonda Rhimes.

Shortly after his departure episode aired on “Grey’s Anatomy,” Patrick Dempsey has been traveling abroad and leaving Derek Shepherd behind him, and according to The Washington Post, his mansion and marriage as well.

Reportedly, the 49-year-old is fresh off the heels of his divorce from makeup artist Jillian Fink, and has put his Frank Gehry-designed Malibu mansion on the market for $14.5 million.

It would seem that Dempsey no longer earning $350,000 per episode on “Grey’s Anatomy” could affect his future finances.

“It was just a natural progression, the way the story was unfolding, the way everything was unfolding in a very organic way,” said Dempsey to EW .

“It was like, Okay! This was obviously the right time. It was just a nice break to sort of go, okay, how’s life look at this time? It was good. I was in Brazil racing for the first part of it.

And then it was a question of… and then Shonda went into storylines.

It just played out that way.

That’s a question for Shonda.” Shonda Rhimes, however, is busy executive producing a new historical drama series with writer-director Dee Rees for FX.

According to Variety , the series is based on Isabel Wilkerson’s 2010 book “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration.” Shonda Rhimes’ production company Shondaland will be producing in collaboration with FX Prods.

Currently, there is a petition on  Change.org  for series creator Shonda Rhimes to bring the character back.

But Rhimes has an accurate and clear answer for that.

“Because human beings aren’t property and I can’t keep them as hostages,” tweeted Rhimes.

“You know that right?”
