The NBA trade rumors may see a familiar face in the future which might seem to shock the basketball world as it is.
Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were players who never made the playoffs in their career but now that they’re playing with LeBron James, they anticipate the better days to come.
However, the better days have yet to come.
While the Cavs are slowly winning, they are still far below the pre-season expectations that projected them as title contenders.
It seems like taking a backseat is easier said than done for Irving and Love, who were both first options for their team prior to this season.
Cleveland Cavaliers GM David Griffin spoke ominous words to the Cleveland Plain Dealer: “No one is untouchable and you’re never done building a team so we’re always paying attention to what opportunities are out there.'” While there are many ways to interpret that statement, it’s a safe bet that ‘no one’ exempts LeBron James.
However, the two other components of the “Big Three” are not quite as lucky.
Kyrie Irving has been criticized for not distributing the ball so much.
He was hard-wired to lead the team in his entire four-year career and even his lone, injury-shortened college season at Duke.
But this is the sacrifice players must make in order to win, which is something he has always wanted.
The same applies for Kevin Love who admitted his struggles to Chris Fedor of the Northeast Ohio Media Group .
“I’m just trying to find myself in this offense.
It’s just one of those things.
We’re 10 games in.
I think everyone knew coming in that we would have to sacrifice.
At some point we are going to need some low-post scoring and outside shooting.” His numbers are expectedly lower than his 26 points, 12+ rebounds from last season and it has affected him.
Love continues: “I haven’t really said much.
I’m just trying to be a part of this team as best I can to help us win.
As far as getting into a rhythm it has been tough.” Did GM Griffin really mean what he said? Most teams still place a premium on these two players and would love to scoop them up.
Kevin Love will also be a free agent at the end of this season.
That might be a bigger factor than we think.
