Since news broke out that Microsoft is going to rebrand all new Nokia smartphones into Microsoft Lumia, a lot of people have been waiting for the Redmond giant’s debut smartphone.
Fortunately, we do not have to wait much longer.
According to a report by Phone Arena , the new Microsoft Lumia 535 is now available in the US, just weeks after it was first announced. In the report, it is Expansys which is offering the device at $169.99.
While the phone’s price is cheaper than what is current offered in India ($149), it may still be a good price tag considering it is Microsoft’s first ever Lumia branded smartphone. The Lumia 535 has all the specs and ingredients to be labeled as a midranger.
It boasts a 5-inch display with qHD (960 x 540) resolution, 1GB RAM, a quad-core CPU, Snapdragon 200 and a 1,905mAh battery. The phone also stands out among its midrange competitors with its 5MP primary camera at the back, and 5MP front camera.
Indeed, it looks like Microsoft will be following up Nokia’s plans of making photography a key feature in its new smartphones. Of course, the device runs on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 version, with the Lumia Denim update. The new WP 8.1 version brings a ton of new features to the Windows Phone platform which include new customization options for the homescreen and lockscreen, an Action Center which serves as the notification area of the system, a new super-fast and intuitive touchscreen keypad and the virtual voice assistant Cortana.
