The new Metallica album is on its way and members of the band revealed that they are already in the studio recording tracks, while they claimed that fans should expect the disc to come out in 2016.
An interview reported by Loud Wire revealed how singer James Hetfield is excited about their release and that they have three guitars laid down that promised to have an excellent sound.
“I tell ya, we’re recording right now, and there’s the number one guitar, there’s the number two guitar, there’s the number three,” Hetfield said. “And here’s the third-track guitars that just sound different. They all sound different.”
In the same interview, he also talked about their relationship with ESP guitars and EMG pickups, which they have worked with throughout the years, pointing out the tone he’s looking for in the new Metallica album.
“Unbelievable to be sitting here thinking I designed a guitar, well, I’m not gonna take all the credit obviously, but taking a classic shape, redesigning and thinking of the idea for developing a clean pickup that had dynamics, that had power and having it sit here in a guitar and me recording an album after 35 years with it – awesome,” he said.
Meanwhile, guitarist Kirk Hammett further talked about the new Metallica album in a Billboard interview, wherein he confirmed countless of songs and riffs they had ready for the record.
“We have well over a dozen songs and we still have well over two or three hundred riffs, too, so it’s hard to say at what point we actually are in in the project,” Hammett said. “I don’t think we hit the middle point yet. I would say we’re at the 25 percent point, maybe 30 percent point.”
While the band is in the studio recording, it is believed that the new album from Metallica may come out by summer of 2016.
