Manny Pacquiao is undeniably the biggest sports celebrity in his country.

For those who don’t know, the Filipino boxer is also a professional basketball player in his country.

Speaking of the sport, it seems like a young basketball prodigy named Kobe Paras is ready to make a name for himself and someday, might share the spotlight with Pacquiao.

Pac-Man, acknowledges the talent of the young Filipino baller and he also believes that Paras has the potential to make it in the big leagues.

Here’s what Pacquiao has to say about the young Kobe Paras via Spin.ph .

(Translated from Filipino) “That kid is a great basketball player.

He just needs to persevere, work on his game, and I am sure he will impress many.” Pacquiao said.

“Even my acquaintances in the NBA said that he really has potential and I am wishing for his success,” he added.

Pacquiao also said that playing in the United States is a wise decision for Paras as his game will be more polished considering the level of competition in the U.S.

“He made the right decision to play in the U.S., He will get better training and exposure there.

His opponents there are twice as big and skilled and are also future stars in the NBA,” said Pacquiao.

Pac-Man is positive that Paras will be the first ever Filipino to play in the NBA.

“He can do it.

With his level of self-discipline and the amount of support he is getting from his parents, he can play in the NBA.

Not just getting drafted but he will be a part of a team’s rotation,” said the congressman.

Pacquiao is even willing to introduce Paras to some of his friends in the NBA.

Lastly, if Paras wind up in the PBA, Pacquiao is hoping that they will end up as teammates.

“I hope we can draft him.

That kid is really good and can definitely contribute.

We will try our best to pick him in the draft and I’m also hopeful that our team is already a contender by that time,” he said.

Kobe Paras will be representing the Philippines in the FIBA 3×3 competition happening on June 4 .

Their first match is against Poland.
