Leona Lewis is back with her first album since signing with Island Records, but does she have fire under her feet or is she rolling in the deep? On Monday, Leona Lewis premiered the music video for her new single, “Fire Under My Feet” on her YouTube channel.
And while fans are celebrating her return, some have noticed a similarity between the track and Adele’s mega-hit from “21.”
“Loving the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ vibes of this,” wrote Mikeh021 on YouTube.
If anyone can carry that Adele sound and do it justice, it’s Leona.” Other fans seem to agree on the similarities between the two tracks.
According to the Daily Mail , Leona Lewis suffered from depression by the time her seven-year label deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco came to an end.
“It’s no exaggeration to say that Leona was driven to the depths of despair by the end of her time signed to Syco,” said a source to The Sun.
“Some of the lyrics sound as if she’s talking about a break-up from a boyfriend, but they’re actually about leaving Simon.
It had a huge impact on her life and for the first time she’s not scared to say what she thinks through her music.” Perhaps the new direction in her Adele-like sound will set her on a new path.
“It was so much fun making the video and every story behind each person featured is truly inspiring,” wrote Lewis on Twitter.
“I hope it inspires you too.”
