Lee Byung-Hun rules Korean movie landscape this year, new movie becomes another box-office hits

Actor Lee Byung-Hun rules the Korean movie this year. His new movie “Master” has made to the box office list and made the break even point within eight days. Previously he starred in two Hollywood movie “The Misconduct” and “The Magnificent Seven” and cameo appearance in “The Age of Shadows.” Following his last year-end success with “Inside Men,” Lee started the first half of this year for Lee in a busy days in Hollywood. He co-starred “The Misconduct” with Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino which distributed through the limited release and video on the demand. Afterward, he added his Hollywood portfolio with the box-office hits “The Magnificent Seven,” playing as one of the seven gunslinger in the adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s epic movie “Seven Samurai.”
He returned to Korea to play in the movie “Master” alongside two of his junior actors Kang Dong-Won and Kim Woo-Bin. The movie premiered last week on Dec.21 and has scored a box-office. The production company revealed that within eight days, the movie has reached the break-even point as reported by Korea Daily . Up to now, according to the data from Korean Film Council, “Master” has gained total admission of 3,836,021 audience gaining $25,3 million. Starting January, the movie will premiere in 31 countries, begin with the United States in Jan. 6. Lee’s success continues in the 53rd Daejong Film Awards which was held on Dec. 27. He won Best Actor award for his role in the movie “Inside Men” as reported by Seoul Daily News . Lee win the award over other nominees Kwak Do-Won from “The Wailing,” veteran actor Choi Min-Sik from “The Tiger,” Ha Jung-Woo from “Tunnel” and Song Kang-Ho from “The Age of Shadows.” Next year, Lee will have two movie projects. The movie “Single Rider” which will be released in the first quarter of 207. Another one is the period drama about Namhansanseong fortress which is currently in the shooting.
