When it was announced that Lay would be taking a break from EXO’s activities to promote in China, some fans criticized him for abandoning the group in the time of need.
It looks like the other EXO group members did not agree with this criticism.
Recently during a mini fan-meet event, EXO’s Lay talked about how other members of the group expressed support for his activities in China.
Specifically, Lay shared a heartwarming story between him and Baekhyun.
The host of the “Idol’s Hug” fan event asked Lay which member of EXO was most compatible with him, leading to the story about Baekhyun.
“Actually, I have a good relationship with all of them,” he began.
“Recently, there was a really touching incident that happened with Baekhyun.
He just had his birthday, and I wanted to say happy birthday to him right at midnight.
At that time, I had just traveled back from China to Korea, and I was still used to the time in China,” said Lay.
Lay then further explained how Baekhyun supported him.
“So I was still waiting for midnight when the room was already filled with ‘Happy Birthdays’ and I was thinking, ‘Oh, I’m late?’ So I told Baekhyun, ‘Sorry brother, happy birthday,’ and he responded, ‘Hyung, it’s been tiring for you recently right? It’s okay, Fighting! This is what hyung chose to do, so hyung has all of our support,” Lay told the crowd.
Lay was initially criticized by fans on the Korean website Pann for continuing his solo activities in China, as though his personal profit is more important than the group.
Luckily, Lay has the full support of EXO amid these accusations.
The news of the support for Lay is great to hear considering his recent physical troubles.
The Chinese member of EXO was rushed to the hospital after suffering an injury while filming for “Go Fighting” on May 9.
After recovering from the minor injury, Lay found himself in the hospital again on May 19 for treatment of a previous waist injury.
Hopefully for Lay, the support of EXO members will help him have a speedy recovery while continuing his activities in China.
