d Amy Bouzaglo of Amy’s Baking Company made TV history on Kitchen Nightmares last year when host Gordon Ramsay walked out on them mid-episode, declaring them a lost cause.
Well, the pair is back in the news again, this time after a video surfaced that appears to show Samy threatening a patron with a knife.
The couple now insists that he was acting in self-defense.
On Sunday night, TMZ released the video in question.
In it, Samy is charging forward, carrying what looks like a butter knife, as his wife holds him back.
Samy repeatedly shouts, “Let me,” as Amy screams at him to stop.
Someone outside the frame can be heard saying, “It’s not worth it, you’re going to go to jail for the rest of your life.” At one point Amy, apparently talking to the unseen target of Samy’s rage, says, “You mother-f*cking piece of sh*t coward! Drunk!” On Monday, Amy contacted TMZ to insist that the incident had been taken out of context.
She apparently claims the man in question was falling down drunk, and became confrontational when asked to leave.
According to her, he charged at Samy, saying, “you’re a f*cking piece of sh*t, I saw you on that show.” She says that Samy grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on to ward the guy off, and insists that the weapon was actually just a pen.
The story conflicts with that of a witness who called the police, saying that Samy was, in fact charging at a customer with a knife.
It should come as a shock to absolutely no one who watched the original Kitchen Nightmares episode that this altercation occurred.
The Bouzaglos were dubbed the most controversial couple in the show’s history after the episode they appeared on revealed their deeply dysfunctional, often belligerent behavior.
The pair was seen stealing employees’ tips, swearing at customers, and threatening to call the police on one customer who left without paying, because he never received his food.
Ramsay gave up on them when it became clear they would not accept any of his criticism or advice.
