Will former MVP Kevin Durant finally leave the Oklahoma City Thunder to play for a huge market team?
Although Kevin Durant free agency rumors have been out since he reached superstar status, Stephen A. Smith from ESPN is claiming that Kevin Durant is prioritizing the LA Lakers as his destination next season. Per Steve DelVecchio of Larry Brown Sports:
“Regardless of how senseless it may (sound), in one breath I’m hearing that if Kevin Durant doesn’t stay in Oklahoma City, L.A. is his primary objective and landing spot as opposed to South Beach or even his home of Washington, D.C.,” Smith said.
However, Thunder fans shouldn’t be bothered yet as Durant has made it known that they should not believe anything the media says especially trade rumors about him. For Durant, if it didn’t came directly from him, his agent or his best friend, it is definitely not true. Per Ken Berger of CBSSports.com:
“I’ve got two people that I trust with my life, my agent and my manager, who’s my best friend as well,” Durant said. “I trust them with my life. So if you hear sources or anything, don’t believe it if it didn’t come from them. I tell them everything.”
“We bounce ideas off each other. We collaborate on a lot of different things. They give me advice. so throughout this year, if you hear sources from anybody, it’s not true, unless you hear it from Charlie Bell, Rich Kleiman or Kevin Durant.”
Meanwhile, one of his friends Damion James said via Washington Post that if Durant is considering a change of scenery, it will definitely be on a team that has a huge chance of winning it all.
