Kate Beckinsale will be back to reprise her role in the movie “Underworld 5.” According to The Hollywood Reporter , Beckinsale will be back to play Selene, the role she played in the four previous movies in the “Underworld” franchise.
At this point in the “Underworld” universe, Kate Beckinsale’s character has a daughter with her husband Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman).
But at the end of the last movie, “Underworld: Awakening,” Corvin has disappeared and is nowhere to be found.
Anna Foerster will be directing “Underworld 5,” the first woman to direct a movie in the franchise.
The director worked previously as on TV shows such as “Criminal Minds” and “Outlander.” She also worked as second unit director for several movies prior to being assigned as “Underworld 5” director.
Foerster has also done work as director of photography in Rolan Emmerich movies such as “The Day After Tomorrow, and “White House Down.” The screenplay for “Underworld” is being penned by Cory Goodman (“Priest,” “The Last Witch Hunter”).
Plot details are not yet known, but according to the report, it will revolve around a new breed of vampires and werewolves who are still battling it out for supremacy.
The movie is tentatively titled “Underworld: Next Generation.” Theo James (“Divergent”), who had a small part in “Underworld: Awakening” which was released in 2012 will reprise his role in the movie He again portray the role of a vampire named David.
“Underworld” revolves around around Kate Beckinsale’s Selene, who is out for revenge against Lycans (werewolves), who have murdered her family.
The movie spanned a franchise that includes three more movies that followed the first one, “Underworld: Evolution:Rise of Lycans,” and “Underworld: Awakening.” The films earned more than $400 million in the worldwide box office.
“Underworld 5” is set to begin shooting in Prague in October.
