Jamie Foxx has been in the headlines of numerous publications recently.
This is after he sang the American National Anthem during what was considered to be the biggest boxing fight of the century between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Foxx was wearing a white suit with black lapel to the ring.
Early on, he was seen removing his ear piece which serves as his monitors for his performance.
Without it, he cannot hear how he sounds like vocally in contrast to the accompaniment, which in that case, was an organ.
Upon his performance, fans took it to social media to bash the 47-year-old about his “pitchy” performance.
Some say that he has ruined the national anthem by singing it very differently that it went all over the place.
At the end of the song, Foxx also said “Hallelujah” repeatedly, which led fans to ridicule him even more.
CNN cited a few examples of the tweets posted by users about the performance.
“The real fight was between Jamie Foxx and the national anthem,” said a user named, “Prince.” “Jamie Foxx’s national anthem had more twists and turns than the fight,” tweeted the account, “Funny Tweets.” Celebrity Robert Glasper was also cited.
“I actually like Jamie Foxx as a singer,” he tweeted.
“but lastnight was pretty damn funny lmao!!!! Did he sing hallelujah at the end???” As to why Foxx removed his earpiece in the first place, some fans say that maybe he was simply not comfortable with having it on.
Other fans say that there was probably something wrong with the feedback Jamie was receiving which led him to take it off.
Regardless, they all say that it certainly was not a good decision for the actor/singer.
It can be recalled that the recently concluded fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao has the former as its victor.
Fans have expressed mixed reactions to the judges’ decision since then.
