While “Game of Thrones” has taken major detours from the books, recent spoilers appear to hint at a major Jaime Lannister storyline being featured in Season 6, and the name Lady Stoneheart is tagged along with it.
According to a recent report by TV Guide , actor Clive Russell is returning to play Brynden Tully aka The Blackfish, who has not been seen since the Red Wedding on “Game of Thrones.” Reportedly, he will be defending Riverrun in Season 6 from a Lannister invasion which will include Jaime Lannister.
Recent filming spoilers have hinted at actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau filming for the Riverlands based on George R.R. Martin’s books. But what makes the spoilers more interesting is the potential for the storyline to see the return of Catelyn Stark as Lady Stoneheart.
Recently, various Twitter observers have also claimed to have seen Michelle Fairley in Belfast. However, it is unknown whether her alleged appearance on “Game of Thrones” would be for Stoneheart or a flashback akin to what’s been reported for Sean Bean’s Ned Stark for Season 6’s Tower of Joy.
Given the timeline of the “Game of Thrones” series, many fans expected to see Lady Stoneheart in the Season 4 finale, but she was nowhere to be found.
And it might stay that way, given the reasoning behind Michelle Fairley’s absence.
“I have no idea what they plan to do about that because honestly, it just wasn’t talked about,” said “Game of Thrones” Season 4 finale director Alex Graves. “It wasn’t on the radar.”
“I think the bottom line is that there was so much going on, at least from where I stood, that it wasn’t something to get into because, you know, when you get into taking Michelle Fairley, one of the greatest actresses around, and making her a zombie who doesn’t speak and goes around killing people, what’s the best way to integrate that into the show?”
