Users cannot install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy S3 via an official firmware release.
However, custom ROM was released for the S3 owners to experience Google’s latest operating system.
The specs list posted on GSM Arena for the Samsung Galaxy S3 noted that the latest and official firmware build made available for the 2012 flagship device is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Custom developers previously made firmware versions based on Google’s KitKat OS.
And now, an Android 5.0 Lollipop custom ROM was released for the Samsung Galaxy S3, according to a recent report from Autoomobile.
Those who will install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy S3 via custom ROM can expect the new features found on the latest Google mobile OS update, as well as performance improvements like faster speed, longer battery life, new CPU governors, and a lot more.
However, Galaxy S3 users should be aware that the Android 5.0 Lollipop custom ROM still contains bugs and problems like non-functioning sensors or camera malfunctions.
Also, users need to be extra punctilious when installing a custom ROM as any mistake can possible damage the device.
First, make sure that the model number of the Galaxy S3 is GT-I9300, since the custom firmware is only available to this specific model.
Also, make sure that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has at least 80 percent battery before installing the AOSP ROM.
It is also important to make a backup of all the data and personal settings stored on the device just in case all the files get wiped out during the installation process.
Proper Samsung Galaxy S3 drivers should also be installed on the PC so the Android device will easily connect with the computer when installation begins.
