Iggy Azalea canceled her Great Escape Tour.
The “Fancy” rapper planned to tour America during her 2015 Great Escape Tour.
She originally postponed the tour, but announced on Friday, May 29, that the tour was cancelled.
“As u may know, the tour is cancelled.
I’m so sad and sorry to let my fans down…we’ll be back out on the road when the next album is done,” Azalea posted on Twittter.
“The cancellations don’t include Pittsburgh Pride, Ottawa Bluesfest, Québec Summer Festival, or Washington State Fair.
Still coming to those!” The tour was originally scheduled to kick off in April.
According to reports, plans for the tour started to come apart in March.
The 24-year-old Australian rapper pushed back some dates “due to tour production delays.” Def Jam told Billboard that “to accommodate for creative team availability and tour productions, it was determined that the tour will not be ready this spring.” Ticketholders got an email saying “The Iggy Azalea Great Escape Tour scheduled for this fall has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase.
There will be a new tour planned around Iggy’s new record to be released in 2016 and we apologize for any inconvenience.” A report in The Wrap said Iggy was unresponsive to her management and didn’t take part in promotion.
The tour was supposed to feature the opening act of R&B singer Tinashe along with Nick Jonas.
In February Azalea told GQ magazine “It’s my first arena tour.
And I’d like it to not be my last arena tour.
I want everything to be right …
at the moment, I’m just trying to work on the initial stage design and making a stage that I feel like can engage with many people in an arena that big.
So I’m doing something maybe not very traditional, and I’m working on that.” Azalea will still perform at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards, which will also feature Sam Smith, Kelly Clarkson, Jason Aldean, Jamie Foxx and Meghan Trainor.
