In a recent interview with The Telegraph , actress and singer Idina Menzel revealed that there may be a “Frozen” sequel in the works.
According to US Magazine , “Frozen” was a smash hit and became the highest grossing animated movie this past May – what better reason to follow it up?
Menzel has had a big presence in Broadway, starring in the original production of “Rent” and making her breakthrough debut as Elphaba in “Wicked.” However, her most talked about role is certainly that of Elsa, the magical, ice-powered princess in Disney’s “Frozen.” The movie’s hit song “Let It Go” stars Menzel’s powerful vocals, and has made her a worldwide heroine of little girls everywhere.
Menzel stated of her sudden fame, “I remember some of those classic Disney songs from movies, and you knew the character but you didn’t know the person behind the song.
But this is different, this is weird.
All the little girls love Elsa but they also want to meet me.
I think that’s because of social media, and their parents say, ‘Watch this, this is the girl at the Oscars.'” As for her life after “Frozen,” Menzel has been keeping busy.
Currently, she is recording an album of Christmas songs titled “Christmas Wishes.” Telegraph reports that it includes songs such as “When You Wish Upon A Star,” “Silent Night,” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” which is a duet with Michael Buble.
She revealed of the process, “I just was in heaven…It was a way to break up the monotony of doing the show every day at the theatre.
I had fun, and I didn’t over-listen to myself or second-guess myself.” However, her role in “Frozen” might not be over just yet.
When asked about a possible sequel, theater adaptation, and “Frozen” short, she teased , “They’re all in the works!” She might even be in all three of them.
She explained, “I don’t know what will happen with that, but the movie hopefully.
I’m just going along for the ride.”
