The Pokemon XY anime arc has come to an end, and various fans have noticed a small detail that intrigues them regarding the future of the series.
During Friday’s airing of the finale episode, Professor Sycamore provides a new Pokedex for Ash that can record the data of Mega Evolutions. Interestingly enough, it also looks exactly like the Hoenn Pokedex.
“Seems pretty late to give them this Pokedex,” commented reddit user Nightynightynight. “I would have thought that the [‘Omega Ruby’ and ‘Alpha Sapphire’] promotion would be over by now, unless the Pokedex also looks like this in the next games, but I doubt that.”
And while some believe Ash and friends may be going back to the Hoenn region due to this Easter Egg, what we know of the upcoming “XY & Z” series does not quite support that.
On Oct. 29, the Pokemon “XY & Z” anime will air in Japan, and according to the episode synopsis, it will showcase Ash and friends traveling to Snowbelle City.
“Aiming to enter the Kalos League, Ash and his friends continue their journey towards Snowbelle City, where the last Gym is located,” reads the premiere episode description.
“While taking a break, the group encounters a mysterious, squishy Pokemon that’s not listed in the Pokedex!? As Ash and the others get excited that it might be an entirely new Pokemon species, a mysterious group of people suddenly attack them.”
As previously reported , the premiere will feature the much-discussed Zygarde Formes as well as Ash-Greninja. According to Crunchyroll , the premiere will not only be broadcast on television, but also streamed online.
