“Half Life 3” release date: Recent reports are throwing doubts on the third version of Valve’s Half Life video game.
IGN report reported that Valve executive Gabe Newell discussed the game in a Game Slice podcast saying a third title might not be such a great idea after the “Portal” sequel.
“The only reason we’d go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did],” Newell said at the Game Slice Podcast.
“But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we’ve learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice.” “So we’ll keep moving forward.
But that doesn’t necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean.” Kotaku reported that Valve used portions of the game in a virtual reality showcase.
“We’ve said, ‘Let’s take some existing art and see how it fits,'” Kotaku quoted Valve programmer Jeep Barnett as saying.
“So yeah, we’ll grab some headcrabs, we’ll grab the machine guns from Half-Life, the rocket launcher-all those different fun things-and see how they play in VR.
But right now, it’s a tool for exploring the different kind of game designs we want to do.” The wait for Half Life 3 already passed the 10-year mark.
While Valve didn’t reveal anything on Half Life 3 at GDC, the gaming company did talk about their VR headset project and the future of Steam.
Half Life fans have come up with their own conspiracy theories for Half Life 3, including seeing signs of Half Life 3 in Sweden after online retailer 499KR, started taking pre-orders for Half Life 3 along with a description that hinted that Half Life 3 is coming out this year.
