“Goosebumps: The Game” release date has just been announced by WayForward and will be released on Oct. 13, 2015.
It’s the month of Halloween and the best thing to do during the night of Hallow’s Eve is to get into full costume, eat some candy and maybe freak some people out. However, some will recall the “Goosebumps” television series as a reminder that scary things can happen anytime and not just on Halloween.
There is a “Goosebumps” movie coming out soon, but now the “Goosebumps: The Game” release date has been confirmed as well. Kids who then enjoyed freaking themselves out by watching the series and reading the book can now play the game and get an eerie sense of nostalgia and childhood fears kick in.
A trailer was released and previewed a bit of the gameplay. “Goosebumps: The Game’s” point-and-click adventure game play may be a surprise to some, but it was intended to build up tension as the game progresses.
“The whole point of a scary game is to control the atmosphere and the player’s mood so you can effectively stage scare moments. Too many developers build an entire action game and then expect to drape “scary stuff” over the top of it during the polish phase, resulting in a bland atmosphere, failed scares, and an overall rushed feeling,” explained WayForward Director Tom Hulett on the Playstation Blog.
He added, “I’m not satisfied if the game is merely Goosebumps-flavored, or brand-adjacent.” Fortunately, the scare elements and the careful planning worked together harmoniously. While it may not be the typical first-person “horror” game, it would still be able to give the authentic “Goosebumps” chill the franchise is known for.
“Goosebumps: The Game” will be available on PC, Nintendo 3DS, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360, as reported by IGN.
