The executive producers of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” have announced previously that the TV series will differ significantly from the books by George R.
To date, Vanity Fair noted that several characters’ storylines have diverged from their book plots.
First off, Sansa Stark and Littlefinger have undergone major changes in their stories.
In the book, Sansa spent most of her time with her cousin Robin in the Vale.
But the new episodes had her being led by Littlefinger to Winterfell to be married off to Roose Bolton’s son, Ramsay.
Originally, it was a character named Jeyne Poole who went o Winterfell.
Whether Sansa will end up with what happened to Jeyne Poole, or have a completely different storyline, is not yet known.
On the other hand, Bronn has replaced Ser Ilyn Payne as Jaime’s companion on his trip to Dorne.
In Martin’s book, Cersei actually sent Jaime to Riverrun to claim back a castle that Brynden “Blackfish” Tully has been holding on to.
Blackfish is an uncle of Catelyn Stark, and he has been holding down the castle for the slain Robb Stark.
But in the TV series, Jaime travels with Bronn to Dorne to rescue his niece (daughter) Myrcella.
As for Brienne and Pod, who have gone on a mission to retrieve Sansa and Arya Stark, in the books, they have not even seen a glimpse of either of them.
But in the series, Brienne has actually seen Sansa and killed off several of Littlefinger’s men in her quest to rescue her.
Book readers are now speculating that Brienne might finally get to meet the mysterious character that was supposed to have made an appearance during the last season’s finale.
It will be recalled that Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister, posted a photo on her Instagram account that seemed to be a major spoiler for this character.
