Mindy Project Cancelled: “The Mindy Project” ended its run at Fox with a cliffhanger.
Fox cancelled the “The Mindy Project,” but the series may continue on Hulu.
“Hey guys, I’m in Montana, is anything happening in LA?” Minsy Kaling asked on Instagram and Twitter along with a video and the hashtag #themindyproject.
Fox canceled Mindy Kaling’s romantic comedy, which boasts a cult audience, after its third season ended in March.
But “The Mindy Project,” which is produced by Universal Television, may continue the story on Hulu, which already owns the streaming rights to all of the show’s episodes.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Dr.
Mindy Lahiri, who is pregnant, Fans of The Mindy Project” took to Twitter to vent their anger and sadness.
The series premiered to an audience of about 4.6 million in September 2012 and dipped to just over 2 million viewers The deal would reportedly include two new seasons, and possibly more.
The series’ fate will be decided by next week.
Similar to “The Mindy Project” story, “Community” was axed by NBC and moved Yahoo Screen for its sixth season.
Hulu also made a huge deal for a major syndication rights with Sony TV’s “Seinfeld.” It will also be buying the streaming rights to “The Walking Dead” spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead” from AMC.
Fox, Hulu and Universal TV declined to comment on “The Mindy Project.”
