Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is well known for his outspoken and controversial statements.
This time, he did not back down from ripping Jay Z’s newly established music streaming company, Tidal, and former One Direction member Zayn Malik.
Here’s what he had to say about Tidal.
He is not the only artist (i.e.
Lily Allen, Mumford & Sons, Ben Gibbard) not pleased with Tidal’s vision as they believe it only favors mainstream artists and its more of a “vanity project.” ( via NME ) “I thought that the people on the stage might want to be a little bit aware that they don’t look like Jay Z’s minions,” he said.
“Madonna was pretty cool the way she slanted her leg up on that desk and signed the [declaration].
I think ultimately with the spiel they came out with, it was like, ‘Do these people think they’re the f*****’ Avengers? They’re going to save the f*****’ [world].’ Gallagher added, “I was speaking to Chris [Martin] the day after, and I said, ‘Are you after a Nobel Peace Prize? Is that what you’re after?’ They were like, ‘We’re going to f*****’ save the music business.’ And I’m just sitting there, thinking [imitates smoking weed] you might want to write a decent chorus for a f*****’ start.
Never mind f*****’ royalties and the ‘power of music.’ Write a tune.
F*****’ start with that.” Some might find Gallagher’s statements a bit bold but apparently, he is not yet done.
Later in this interview, he also blasted former One Direction member Zayn Malik for leaving the group.
“It’s a strange thing for that lad to have done at that age.
The greatest quote was – I laughed out loud when I read it, ‘I just want to be a normal 22-year-old.’ Pfft.
Who wants to be a normal 22-year-old?! Hang on a minute.
You can be f***** anything that moves and gettin’ paid half a million dollars a week, you f*****’ i****.
You want to be a normal 22-year-old? Have you met any normal 22-year-olds? They’re f*****’ sh*t-for-brains.
What are you talking about, you f*****’ i****?”
