Will Arnett’s “Flaked” was recently released in Netflix with eight episodes. The series’ plot, according to Netflix is the following:
“In his funky California beach enclave, Chip’s the go-to guy for personal insights. But he isn’t quite as enlightened when it comes to his own baggage.”
The series is practically a version of “Arrested Development” but instead of Arnett’s Gob, who seemed clueless in everything, Chip parades himself as a self-help guru who also needed help. Unfortunately, the reviews of the Netflix series are nowhere near “Arrested Development.” As of this writing, “Flaked” is rated at 38% in Rotten Tomatoes with the consensus, “dull and pointless, ‘Flaked’ makes it uncomfortably clear that the man-child persona is no longer compelling.”
But even with a low critics’ review, there’s a big possibility that the series will be renewed for another season. According to Netflix Life , “It also looks like we’ll have to wait about a year until we see more episodes of ‘Flaked.’ It is almost a guarantee that Netflix will renew it for a second season with an anticipated release date coming in March 2017, after ‘House of Cards’ Season 5 and before ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 in all likelihood.” Bustle also reports that the Netflix usually renews most of its series, “Netflix almost always renews its original series, so ‘Flaked’ has a good chance of survival, even though the streaming service does not release ratings information for individual shows that would give us a better idea of what to expect.”
Will Arnett’s relationship with Netflix goes beyond “Flaked.” The popular TV and movie star has worked with the media streaming giant in the past and most notably the revival of “Arrested Development” for its fourth season. He is also the voice behind the popular original animated series “BoJack Horseman” and it’s currently on a very successful second season.
