‘Fashion Police’ News: Kathy Griffin Defends Self Amid Melissa Rivers’ Accusations She Ruined Joan Rivers’ Legacy

“Fashion Police” news reported how Kathy Griffin defended herself for resigning from the hit E! series.

According to various reports, Joan Rivers’ protégé spoke up after Melissa Rivers accused her of ruining her mother’s legacy.

“Kathy considered Joan a mentor,” a source to Us Weekly .

“The truth is, the show was never going to be the same without Joan.” The 54-year-old comedienne was tasked to fill in for Joan Rivers after the iconic comedienne passed away last September.

However, Kathy Griffin resigned from the show after just seven episodes, supposedly because of the controversy between mainstay Giuliana Rancic and teen star Zendaya Coleman.

“Fashion Police” made news after Giuliana Rancic joked about Zendaya Coleman, who must have “smelled like patchouli oil or weed” for wearing dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars.

The joke was slammed as racist by several viewers, and eventually resulted to the resignation of Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne.

“Kathy thought she’d put ‘Fashion Police’ behind her,” an insider told Ok magazine .

“She’s frustrated that Melissa is pulling her back into the fray.” Recent “Fashion Police” news from New York Daily News  shared how Melissa Rivers felt about Kathy Griffin quitting after less than ten episodes.

“I’m just going to say it wasn’t a match on a lot of levels.

My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of s— all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving,” the 47-year-old executive produced said about Kathy Griffin replacing her mother.

“I know that that was not an intentional reading of it, but that’s how I felt.

But I know that wasn’t how it was intended.

I understand what you’re doing.

You’re trying to save yourself, but don’t crap all over my mother to do it.” “‘Fashion Police’ was this little jewel, and it was the last piece I had of my mother and I working together,” Melissa Rivers pointed out.
