‘Entourage’ wraps its series as commercial failure with below one percent ratings

tvN black comedy drama “Entourage” aired its final episode with below one percent ratings. The commercial failure is due to many factors including poor adaptation of the American culture in the HBO original series to Korean culture. tvN has ended its devastating failure in Korean adaptation of HBO hits TV series “Entourage.” The final episode fell again below 1 percent after its Episode 15 reached 1 percent a day earlier. When the drama was introduced, it has sufficient public attention according to Hankook Ilbo . Nevertheless, ts 2.3 percent ratings in the first episode continued to decline until the end of the episode.
The drama was first reported to break the record in Korean broadcasting history, as the drama is aired in 12 countries. However, the adaptation went awry because it failed to adapt the American sense of humor from the original series to Korean and Asian sense. Furthermore, the drama’s sole focus on the story of boys growing up and moving around has not been appealing to female viewers, the majority of drama viewers. Therefore, since the second week of its airing the drama has been going downhill to reach below one percent ratings. The drama had climbed into one percent in four episodes, but the rest of fourteen episodes since it second week only scored below one percent viewership ratings. At first, the abundant of cameo appearances from Korean celebrities is expected to boost its rating. But it doesn’t help at all. Including in the “Entourage” Episode 16 with the Lee Seong-Min cameo as reported by Seoul Daily News . The acclaimed actor made a special appearance as the rival of Eun-Gab in the entertainment agency business. This commercial failure had been a bitter pill for tvN which has purchased the adaptation right to the drama since 2015. This has also become a failed comeback for Seo Kang-Joon after the contoversial drama “Cheese in the Trap” earlier this year.
